Hope Partnership for Missional Transformation recently welcomed Shernell Edney as Minister of Educational Services. In her new role, Shernell is responsible for creating and implementing all educational resources for Hope Partnership, including the Leadership Academy, Ambassadors Academy, and webinar and distance learning opportunities.
In addition, she will manage Hope Partnership for Missional Transformation’s ministry planning and congregational future discernment services.
Shernell is ordained through the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ, Eastern Virginia Association. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications from Drexel University (located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and her Masters Degree in Divinity with a concentration in Pastoral Care from Virginia Union University (located in Richmond, Virginia).
She enjoys finding meaning out of life and discovering God in new ways. Although she is a minister, she is the first to admit that she does not have all the answers and often still has moments where she wrestles with the many complexities of life. She strongly believes in the power and healing that can be found when people come together and form intimate relationships with each other. Rev. Edney looks forward to all the new ways that God will reveal the truth. She references Jeremiah 29:11, which states,
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”
